Ōtautahi (Christchurch), New Zealand – Chiptech, a global leader in smart care technology, marked a major milestone with the opening of its newly refurbished headquarters in Christchurch. The event drew over 150 attendees, including customers, suppliers, and Chiptech team members, with guests traveling from the UK, Australia, and Japan to join the celebration. The event coincided with International Older Persons Day, a fitting occasion given Chiptech’s commitment to supporting the elderly with life-saving technologies.

We started with the simple belief that getting the details right matters.

Graeme Moore, Founding Director of Chiptech, reflected on the company’s origins, stating: “We started with the simple belief that getting the details right matters. From the beginning, our focus has been on creating world-class personal alarm systems that allow people to age in place, feeling safe and well-supported.” He emphasised the importance of collaboration and strong relationships with customers and suppliers, which have been key to the company’s success. Graeme also announced the donation of two Hato Hone St John health shuttles. “These shuttles are vital in providing free or low-cost transportation for the elderly, ensuring they can access essential medical appointments and services.”

David Hammond, CEO of Chiptech UK, highlighted the strong bond between the New Zealand and UK teams. “From my very first visit to New Zealand, I knew there was something special about Chiptech. The connection between our teams is built on trust, friendship, and shared values. This bond has been the foundation of our success in the UK.” David further explained the impact Chiptech has made in the UK market, saying, “We now provide approximately 170,000 alarms, making a positive difference in people’s lives every day.”

Abby Moore, CEO of Chiptech APAC, expressed pride in the company’s growth: “These renovations aren’t just about physical upgrades—they represent our future. We’re growing and thriving, even in a tough economy, thanks to our dedicated team and long-standing partnerships with suppliers and customers around the world.” Abby also emphasized Chiptech’s commitment to sustainability, noting the company’s initiatives such as solar panel installation and their monthly cleanup of the Ihutai estuary. “For me, this hands-on involvement in protecting our local environment reflects our broader goal of contributing to a sustainable future.”

The opening event concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the presentation of awards for Chiptech’s achievements in innovation and business growth. The event not only celebrated Chiptech’s past successes but also set the stage for future innovations aimed at improving the lives of elderly individuals around the world.
